Karamo began hosting in 2014. He has worked as an on-air host and producer for OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) Huffington Post Live and BET. He makes regular appearances on NBC’s Access Hollywood Live, HLN’s hit show DR. DREW Live and various CNN shows.

 

As a segment producer, Karamo writes content, organized appearances, oversaw scheduling and editing of segments and was instrumental in incorporating social media components into the show. In 2015, Karamo partnered with Dr. Drew Pinsky to sell original non-scripted content that he created, which they are currently pitching.

 

Karamo was first introduced to the world in 2005 at the tender age of 22 as a house-mate on the hit MTV reality series the REAL WORLD. Karamo was a break-out star and became the first openly gay African American in the history of reality TV. In February 2016 Karamo returned to reality television as a cast member on TV One’s new hit docs-series #TheNext15. The show documents life after reality stardom and as Karamo balances being a single father with being a working professional. It has

been renewed for a season 2.

 

Karamo is a staff writer for the Advocate, which is the largest and most successful LGBT news magazine in the world. He has also recently started his own non-profit organization, 6in10.org, which provides tailored mental health support to black gay and bisexual men in order to eradicate the 6 in 10 HIV statistic plaguing this community.

 

Karamo’s ongoing mission is to share his life experiences and dynamic point of view on current and noteworthy pop culture topics, in order to inspire audiences to live more stimulating and accomplished lives.
